Cold Selkie

The Thin White Queen is brave and bold

As daily she faces the dreaded cold

To bring life to the surface and death decay

As in the arms of the chill it is bourn away

She dips the body in the cold white chill

It creeps up her torso with seeming ill

But beat away the grief that infiltrates her mind

And the feeling of sadness is left behind

The Black King loves her still

And bears her up the heavenly hill

To stand with Him in great delight

A challenge that scales the chilly height

Bright red the cost of the winter swim

In search now of the comfort of heat within

The deep shudder and silent shiver never last

As she the victory takes over the icy blast.
