The Pawn

The pawn opens the game

It snippy snips the tail

Of the lobster at the bottom of the sea

Beside the water snail.

The next pawn checks his watch

It’s nearly half past five

The anemone waves the tentacles

Through the fields of chive.

The next pawn picks a daffodil

Growing in the boat

The starfish isn’t rattled

It’s sitting on a float.

The Passionate Knight

He sees her, he wants her, but cannot grasp

The enormity of love a heart can clasp

His needs come first and he leaves her in flight

No sacrifice can be had tonight.

He is the Passionate Knight of love

But only for the One above

Let him go, there is no root or hint

Of the spring of a shoot.

His passion will drive him and give him wings

As over some other Queen he sings

Passion is all he’s got

His mortal lot…

The Thin White Queen

No mortal power will bend her down

The strength of Queen’s is she

Demands are not her neighbour

Tyranny will flee.

She moves across the kingdom

With dignity and grace

Invading armies tremble

One glimpse of her beautiful face.

Her King enthroned in glory

Protection is her key

She sacrifices all she is

For him endlessly.
