Love is cheap, the words fall like rain
Refreshing and building hope again
But disappointment wins the day
“I love you,” is easy to say.
You forget me so easily and ignore my self
Putting my psyche on the heartache shelf
I have nowhere to go but home to my refuge
Where only my God is there to negate the subterfuge
That infiltrates my delicate mind and bolster up
My self-confidence that brings me closer up
To the infiltrating lens of self-doubt and even despair
Leaving me in the grip of the fresh air
That balms me and heals me without doubt
As I search for the true meaning to find out
The true love that continually dogs my step
Empty and bereft but free of all regret.
