Rattlin’

I hear the rails a-rattlin’ the train is coming soon

Could be morning, midnight or even in the light of noon

The train will come and get me and take me to my home

Where I will be forever safe and trouble never comes.

I sit upon the padded seat, I ride in silence dim

I’m waiting and I’m waiting to find me honourable him

Who will be my comfort and protector in this my mortal life

Far away from loneliness and all forms of fleshly strife.

I glimpse one sight of love so strong and bold

Over my mind and heart it has a vice-like hold

I look for things I’ve never known or had,

I wait for him for in sorrow – I am sad.

True love has passed me over once but maybe once again

I will be able to sing of love and loves emotional refrain

Bringing me into life again with people I have loved

Keeping me immortal and my truthfulness proved.
